FAQ About the Manufacture of Steel Products
WHAT IS GAL STEEL?
Pre galvanised steel, protects the steel from corrosion. Cold gal is applied over the welded areas prior to powder coating. This process gives medium protection.
WHAT IS BLACK STEEL?
Black steel is untreated steel and must be hot dip galvanised, before being powder coated.
WHAT IS HOT DIP GALVANISING?
This process fully immerses the steel in molten gal to give a high protection against corrosion and is recommended anywhere near the coastline. Due to the high temperature, the steel and the welded joins will expand when immersed in the molten gal ,once left to cool some contraction will occur and the steel may buckle and the welded joins will blow out slightly .The finish on the steel will also be rough due to a residual of Gal that is left behind, this is sanded back as much as possible prior to powder coating. This is a small price to pay for the long lasting durability achieved by this process.
